A planning application has been lodged with Wicklow County Council seeking permission to convert a former healthcare centre in the village of Knockananna, west Wicklow, into a three-bedroom home.
Submitted by B.O.K. Construction Ltd, the plans relate to an existing building in the village, which previously served as a health centre and, alongside the former Shillelagh healthcare centre, was placed on the market in spring 2024.
B.O.K. Construction’s proposal includes the conversion of the property into a single dwelling, along with the construction of single-storey extensions to the side and rear of the building. Minor alterations to the exterior and external finishes are also included as part of the application.
The site extends to approximately 0.072 hectares, while the existing building has a floor area of 71.17 sqm. The proposed works would increase the overall floor area to 195.10 sqm. No demolition of existing structures is proposed as part of the development.
The plans also include ancillary site development works, including the relocation of the existing vehicular entrance serving the property. Two car parking spaces are proposed on the site.
In terms of services, the development would connect to existing public water and foul sewer infrastructure, with surface water to be dealt with via an on-site soakaway. Private open space in excess of 200 sqm is proposed to the rear and side of the dwelling.
B.O.K. Construction’s application is open to public submissions until January 21, 2026, with a decision due to be made by Wicklow County Council on or before February 11, 2026.
