Coronation Street spoilers follow for today’s episode, which is available now on streaming, and tomorrow’s episode.

Coronation Street’s Maggie Driscoll is planning a return to the Rovers after the chaos of Christmas last week. The soap saw Daniel Osbourne attacked by a mysterious assailant — who was quickly revealed to be Will, seething with jealous rage at Daniel’s blossoming relationship with Megan Walsh, who he is being groomed by.

In the episodes airing across today and tomorrow, Maggie gets Will to put pressure on Ben to build bridges with her after all the arguing.

Ben sees right through it and knows this is Maggie’s doing, but remains completely unaware that they are both hiding the secret of Daniel’s attack.

Maggie goes on the charm offensive, saying that she was wrong to have a go at Ben’s other half Eva Price like she did.

Later on, Maggie offers a heartfelt apology to Eva, and the Driscoll family decide if they can move forward with her around or not.

Will Maggie be able to worm her way back into the Rovers, or will Ben and Eva stand strong and tell her she’s not welcome?

It feels like the soap has laid the groundwork for some major storylines with Maggie going forward, as a flashback episode revealed that her husband called her “manipulative” and “controlling”, and that she had an affair.

During a heated argument, she pushed her husband down the stairs, which led to his death. Her son Finlay witnessed the moment, and we’ve tellingly not seen him in the present day.

Wherever the storylines goes, it obvious that there’s plenty more drama to come from the Driscoll family.

And of course, Coronation Street itself is gearing for its major Corriedale crossover episode on 5 January, with both soaps dropping little references here and there.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
