A small- to medium-sized mixed-breed black dog was reportedly seen near the dead fox, who tested positive for rabies.
WOODCREEK, Texas — Hays County officials are looking for the owner of a dog that was seen near a dead fox that tested positive for rabies.
According to the Hays County Sheriff’s Office, an animal control officer responded to the area of 12 Palmer Lane in Woodcreek on Dec. 22 to collect the dead animal.
The fox was sent for rabies testing, and the results came back positive, the sheriff’s office said.
A small- to medium-sized mixed-breed black dog was reportedly seen near the fox.

Pet owners are encouraged to keep their animals up-to-date on rabies vaccinations.
