With hair as big as her stardom and makeup as smooth as her vocals, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter‘s beauty is like no other.
From feathered waves and teal eyeliner to frizzy coils and a glowy base, the 44-year-old Grammy winner has evolved her glam over the last 20-plus years, adding more texture, volume and shine with every major milestone turned.
Some things, however, have not changed. For the most part, Knowles-Carter has stayed on the same side of the color wheel, painting a kaleidoscope of honey and caramel-colored highlights over her dark brown roots, whether they’re teased, waved or curled. On rare occasions, like the Grammy Awards, Knowles-Carter has been known to add long platinum extensions. She even had her very own Marilyn Monroe moment at the SirDavis American Whisky launch party in 2024, chopping her lengthy ends for a bouffant bob.
Hair has played a significant role in Knowles-Carter’s life, from the time she was old enough to sit in her mom’s salon chair and sweep the fallen scraps off the floor. In 2024, the artist launched Cécred — her own clinically-backed line of products, tools and accessories suitable for all hair types — with “Ms. Tina” Knowles as her vice chairwoman. The goal was to “to be an inclusive force of excellence, investing in research, science and testing for all hair types,” she told WWD.
When it comes to makeup, Knowles-Carter has always added just enough spice to turn a glowy, natural base into a full glam aesthetic — wispy lashes, eyeliner and all. In the 2010s, she may have been caught wearing a bold lip, but now, the “Lemonade” vocalist typically goes for a pale pink gloss.
Makeup visionary Rokael Lizama and hair architect Neal Farinah have been permanent members of Knowles-Carter’s glam squad for the last few years.
