'Fabulous food' - Cherished Kilkenny takeaway announces re-opening date

News of a Kilkenny takeaway’s re-opening has been met with widespread delight in the city and surrounding areas.

Rocco’s Takeaway, based on Walkin Street, closed on Wednesday, December 31 for the New Year’s celebrations but after a week of cookers being switched off and blinds down, the family confirmed it will re-open its doors at 5pm on Saturday, January 3.

In response, local supporters wished staff all the best for 2026 and were elated by news of the re-opening date.

“Happy new year all…thanks for all the fabulous food over the year, specially the fillet burgers,” one customer wrote.

“Happy new year guys, see you in 2026,” another person added.
