The successful evacuation of four astronauts from the International Space Station (ISS) is a moment of huge significance, an Irish scientist has said.

SpaceX’s Dragon Endeavour craft returned the crew members – Nasa’s Zena Cardman and Mike Fincke, as well as Japan’s Kimiya Yui and Russia’s Oleg Platonov – to Earth yesterday after an unspecified medical emergency.
