The poet Rachel Eliza Griffiths is accepting of being in the shadows of her world-renowned husband, but this earnest account only gives snatched glimpses of their life together – and is more of a love letter to her late best friend

Rachel Eliza Griffiths has published five collections of poetry and one novel, and is a noted visual artist to boot. She is probably best known now, however, as the wife of Salman Rushdie.
That might rankle with some women, but Griffiths, whilst “raised not to lose myself in the stories of others, especially men”, is wise enough to understand that being overshadowed by such a formidable figure is inevitable.
