Now, that distinctive approach has earned the Westhoughton-based gym a place in the top ten finalists of the Bolton News Best Gym Awards.
Located on Manchester Road, Hybrid Performance Centre has quickly become one of Bolton’s standout training facilities since its incorporation in 2019.
Founded by coaches Andy, Zac Cotton and Daniel Baldwin, the gym was created to meet a growing demand for something more than traditional bodybuilding or one-size-fits-all fitness classes.
The trio first worked together at a local gym before launching their own venture, The Strength Factory. But after several years, they spotted a clear shift in what people wanted from training.
More members were looking to run races, compete in events like HYROX, or simply become fitter across all areas of life, not just stronger in the weights room.
That insight led to the birth of Hybrid Performance Centre, built around a simple but powerful philosophy: “Train everything, ready for anything.”
Unlike conventional gyms, Hybrid Performance Centre focuses on hybrid training, blending strength, endurance and functional fitness into structured programmes that prepare members for real-world challenges and competitive events alike.
Whether someone wants to run a marathon, enter a HYROX race or improve everyday performance, the aim is to make them capable across the board.
At the heart of the gym’s success is its small group personal training (SGPT) model.
Sessions are capped to ensure high-quality coaching and individual attention, while still maintaining the motivation and accountability of a group environment.
Every class is scalable, allowing beginners and experienced athletes to train side by side.
The gym has also expanded beyond its walls.
Hybrid Performance Centre’s rapid growth has been matched by continuous investment in its facility.
Partnering with commercial equipment supplier Again Faster, the gym boasts a custom-designed layout, premium rigs and dedicated training zones that allow multiple sessions to run without congestion. A s demand exceeded expectations, additional equipment was brought in quickly to maintain standards.
Community is another defining feature, with thousands of clients trained over the years and a strong social media following, the gym has cultivated a welcoming atmosphere that members frequently highlight in reviews.
Many describe it as “not your usual gym”.
That combination of expert coaching, inclusive training and results-driven programming has now placed Hybrid Performance Centre among Bolton’s top ten gyms, as voted for in the Bolton News Gym Awards.
