Developers have broken ground in the Portersland area of New Ross as the construction gets under way for the newest McDonalds fast food restaurant in Wexford.
Earlier this year, the food chain was granted planning permission by Wexford County Council, despite a concern lodged by the owners of some other takeaways in the town.
The McDonalds in New Ross is expected to bring approximately 30 jobs to the service.
The ground works that began last week and shell fit-out will be delivered by Martin Redin Ltd., which will include a 50-seater restaurant with parking for 48 cars with accessibility parking and electric vehicle charging spaces.
A spokesperson for McDonald’s has confirmed “it is anticipated that the restaurant will open in Q1 of 2026”.
