Alison Hammond’s impressive weight loss might have been sped up by one important change at home, it has been claimed. The iconic TV presenter, best known for her roles on ITV’s This Morning and The Great British Bake Off has made headlines in recent years over her whopping 11 stone weight loss.

At her heaviest, the 50-year-old weighed 30 stone before a pre-diabetic health warning pushed her to pursue a healthier lifestyle. She has previously insisted that her remarkable transformation did not involve any strict dieting and she instead focused on moderation and sustainable habits.

In a video uploaded to Instagram, Alison expressed her gratitude to personal trainer Ellis Gatfield, crediting him for kick-starting her fitness journey. She praised how he had made life “so much easier” through “simple changes and kindness”.

A fitness expert has now weighed in on what else might have contributed to Alison’s success. According to Woman’s Own, Alison reportedly “keeps weights in her bedroom” to make sure her workouts remain accessible and varied, helping to stop boredom from settling in, the Mirror reports.

Fitness consultant Laurel Alper gave her thoughts on the presenter’s transformation, telling the publication: “Resistance training, plus using weights in her own bedroom, when she had time, will have all contributed to her dropping the pounds. It looks like she walked as much as possible and continued burning calories by stretching and doing yoga. She’s clearly very busy, so having her own weights at home is a great idea.

“She has drastically cut back on her food intake, saying she eats whatever she chooses but has adjusted her portion control. All these things combined have enabled her to create a calorie deficit and lose weight.”

Laurel added that Alison appears to have lost weight safely rather than losing a huge amount in a short space of time.

She suggested that this more steady approach is likely what helped her achieve such great results as she will have reached a point where she can “maintain” her progress.

Despite being very open about her fitness journey, Alison has previously spoken out about facing “persistent questions” over whether she used weight loss injections to achieve her results.

Speaking to The Mail’s Richard Eden at the Women of the Year awards last year, she said: “It worries me that the jab keeps getting brought up.

“Every single time I have a conversation in public, that is the question thrown at me.”

She confirmed that when she had been questioned about whether she used weight loss injections, she responded with an “absolutely not”.

However, Alison has not ruled out the possibility of using them in the future.

She said: “I don’t like the fact that you have to say: ‘Oh, no, I wouldn’t have the jab ever’. Maybe next year.

“Do you know what? I might start jabbing up. What does it matter how people lose weight?”

She concluded by asking: “Would you rather me die from being obese?”
