The fitness craze which has taken over the internet is set to return to Cardiff this spring after a hugely successful Welsh debut which saw thousands of athletes complete the functional fitness event last year. The Principality Stadium will play host to Hyrox once again from Wednesday, April 29, to Monday, May 4.
Hyrox is a fitness race consisting of eight 1km runs interspersed with eight functional workout stations – a 1,000m SkiErg, a 50m sled push, a 50m sled pull, 80m burpee broad jumps, 1,000m row, 200m farmers carry and 100m sandbag lunges.
People of all abilities are encouraged to enter the race and can complete it solo, in doubles or as a part of a team. Never miss a Cardiff story by signing up to our daily newsletter here.

The event has grown hugely in popularity since it was first created in 2017. Thanks to the pull of social media and fitness influencers pushing the endurance and strength-based event, Hyrox lovers travel across the country and abroad to compete against one another and pick up unique race badges to adorn their backpacks.
This year, the event will be in the capital for six days, doubling the length of its stay from 2025.

Tickets go on sale at 1pm on Friday, February 6 on the Hyrox website.
Announcing the return of the event to the Welsh capital, organisers wrote: “After an unforgettable debut in 2025, HYROX returns to Cardiff for the second year running. Set in the Principality Stadium – get ready to experience the energy of Welsh sport as we close out the 2025/26 season.
“Whether you compete solo, in doubles or as part of a team, this is your chance to be part of something extraordinary – transforming the field for the HYROX race floor. See you at the start line.”
