Ryan Reynolds is standing by his woman, leaked text messages be damned. In a statement to Puck News, Reynolds’ reps said he did not regret getting involved in the It Ends With Us behind-the-scenes drama and ensuing legal battles. “Yes, Ryan got involved — what husband wouldn’t support his wife and the mother of his children?” they said. “He saw his wife fighting daily to stand up against sexual harassment in a private and respectful way, only to face retaliation for doing so.”

A number of Reynolds’ text messages — in threads with or without Lively — have been unsealed in recent weeks, as Lively’s lawsuit against Justin Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios continues. In one group text between Lively, Reynolds, Matt Damon, and Luciana Barroso Damon, Reynolds described the It Ends With Us set as “in the pantheon of legendary Hollywood Insanity,” and worthy of a big screen adaptation itself. “One day, we’ll make a movie about the movie,” he wrote. He also texted his WME agent Warren Zavala that he was “super frustrated” because rumors of BTS drama was ruining the good box office of It Ends With Us. Reynolds wrote that Wayfarer had “made a big fucking mess,” and that Lively “should not be subjected to some eye-roll-y narrative of the ‘controlling bitch.’” Reynolds’ rep said he has no regrets. Well, maybe one: “If anything, Ryan feels like he wasn’t angry enough,” he said. “He passionately believes in and will stand up for the basic right to a safe workplace free of harassment and retaliation for his wife and others. Then, now and always.” There’s a lesson in that for all of us: text like it could be deposed later.
