Yesterday, Samsung rolled out the January 2026 update for the Galaxy Watch 5. Now, the company is pushing this update to the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro as well as the Watch 4 series. It should soon expand the release to more models, especially since users have reported various bugs after updating to One UI 8 Watch a few weeks ago.

Samsung’s January 2026 update expands to more Galaxy Watch models

Based on Wear OS 6, Samsung’s One UI 8 Watch update for its wearables introduced tons of new features and improvements. However, some users reported quirky bugs affecting the overall user experience. The company promised to fix those issues with a fresh update in January 2026, and it’s delivering that update now.

The Galaxy Watch 5 was the first to receive the new patch. As noted by David, his Watch 5 felt noticeably smoother after installing the January 2026 release, particularly across Quick Settings and Tiles. We expect similar improvements for Galaxy Watch 5 Pro and Galaxy Watch 4 users. The official changelog does mention system stability and reliability improvements alongside the latest security fixes.

The January update for the Watch 5 Pro arrives with the firmware build version DYL6, while it’s JYL6 for the Watch 4. The OTA packages weigh 147MB and 140MB, respectively. The former is picking up this update in Europe, while the latter is grabbing it in South Korea. Samsung should soon kick off a global rollout.

To check for updates for your Galaxy Watch, open the Galaxy Wearable app on your connected smartphone and go to Watch settings. Now, scroll down to the Watch software update menu and tap Download and install. If an update shows up, download it. Make sure your watch has sufficient battery before starting the installation. If there’s no update today, wait a few days and check again.
