A female secondary school teacher who said she had a “one-night stand” with a past pupil has admitted she has since been in a six-year “loving relationship” with him and lied about it to an inquiry.

The teacher today accepted she “deliberately deceived” the fitness-to-teach hearing when she gave evidence that she had had no further contact with the then 18-year-old after their “one-off” sexual encounter in a hotel while he awaited his Leaving Cert results in 2018.
