Under Google, Fitbit has been moving away from its traditional standalone accounts, instead pushing users to sign in with their Google account. That will be mandatory this year, but the deadline has been pushed back.
In a quiet update to a support page, Google has pushed the deadline for the move from Fitbit accounts to Google Account back to May 19, 2026. Previously, the deadline was February 2, 2026.
Google says:
After May 19, 2026, you can no longer access Fitbit with your Fitbit account. To continue using your account, you’ll need to move your Fitbit account to Google.
Google has required new users to sign into Fitbit with a Google Account for some time now, but existing Fitbit accounts were still allowed with constant reminders to migrate. The move from a Fitbit account to your Google Account takes just a few minutes, and results in no data loss either.

For existing users, this grants a bit more time to make the change, and also pushes back the timing of when Google will start deleting Fitbit account data.
Google says that users on a Fitbit account who do not migrate will be able to download their Fitbit data anytime prior to July 15, 2026, at which point that data will be deleted. After May 19, though, users will be unable to access Fitbit at all unless they’ve migrated over to a Google Account.
