A boy was rushed to hospital following a dog attack in Dublin.
Gardaí along with members of the emergency services were dispatched to the scene after an incident involving a child and a dog in Clonsilla, Dublin at around 1:30pm on Saturday.
A child was rushed to Temple Street Children’s Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The dog was removed from the scene and arrangements are being made with the local veterinary services for it to be euthanized.
Gardaí have said investigations are ongoing.
A Garda spokesperson told the Irish Mirror: “Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene following report of an incident involving a dog at Clonsilla, Dublin 15, Saturday 31 January 2026 at approximately 1.30pm.
“A male child was conveyed to Temple Street Children’s Hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening at this time.
“The dog has been removed by the Dog Warden and arrangements are being made with the local veterinary services for it to be euthanized. Investigations are ongoing.”
This latest incident comes days after an infant boy was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being attacked by a dog in Co Kilkenny.
The young child was attacked by the dog at a home in Callan at around 3pm on Wednesday afternoon. Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene while two dogs, which were involved in the incident, were removed from the scene.
The child was taken to Crumlin Children’s Hospital where he was treated for serious injuries that were described as non-life-threatening. Arrangements have been made with local veterinary services to euthanize the dogs in this case.
