If Mary Considine fulfils the ambitions she has inherited in her new role in Iarnród Éireann, it will arguably involve the biggest improvement in Ireland’s railway since the days of the master engineer William Dargan, the father of the Irish railways.

The Clare woman says she is up for the challenge.
