Leesiders with a sweet tooth be on high alert – one of Munster’s favourite cookie makers has announced its first store in Cork and it’s opening this Thursday, February 5.

Limerick-based SOS Cookies already stocks their addictive products in Cork’s Wellbean Cafe, but their new Mahon Point shop marks their first independent shop in the Rebel county and will stock a huge selection of their best-selling treats.

As part of the official launch of the shop on Thursday, SOS Cookies is giving away a free branded tote bag to the first 20 customers who snag themselves some delicious baked goods.

The company was founded in Limerick back in December 2020 and in just over the five years since they first started trading they’ve become a popular favourite across Ireland and are now stocked in select cafes and coffee trucks around the country.

It’s an impressive business success story from founder Sarah who has managed to build a food company with nationwide brand-recognition during a time that’s been particularly tough for the hospitality industry.

A self-taught baker, she started developing SOS Cookies over the first Covid-19 lockdown, having fallen in love with similar products as a child in London.

A lot of Leesiders will be looking for a new bakery to get their fix after a cake and cookie shop in Midleton announced that it would be closing its doors at the end of the month after just under a year in business.
