PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — Possible changes are underway at one Portland radio station.

According to the online playlist on WE 102.9’s website, the station has been playing Sonny & Cher’s “I Got You Babe” on a continuous loop since Sunday night at 10:51 p.m.

The station also promoted the song on their socials media pages, including comment saying, “Stuck in a loop, changes coming soon.”

That song was featured in the 1993 comedy “Groundhog Day,” starring Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell. The song was a number one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in August 1965.

According to RadioInsight, Connoisseur Media, the owners of WE 102.9, recently registered a website with the KUFO call letters in the address.

“With 92.3 KGON and 105.9 The Brew combining for over ten percent of the audience share in the Portland market combined with Connoisseur Portland Operations Manager Ross Macleod’s career mostly spent in the Rock genre, they likely see a hole to bring a heritage brand back to Portland,” says Lance Venta, publisher of RadioInsight.

Venta adds that just because a website has been registered, it is not a guarantee that the station would broadcast a rock format.

“You should have all the answers you need on Wednesday,” said Ross MacLeod, Operations Manager Connoisseur Media.

KUFO went off the air when KXL made the jump from AM to FM in 2011.
