Below Deck Down Under‘s Captain Jason Chambers finally put those Heather Gay hookup rumors to bed, once and for all.
The Below Deck Down Under Season 4 premiere gave viewers a whole new perspective on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City cast’s dramatic charter around Canouan, but offered little clarity on persistent speculation about the true nature of Captain Jason and Heather’s relationship.
So, on the Below Deck Down Under After Show, chief stew Daisy Kelliher implored Captain Jason to “give the people what they want,” before bluntly asking him, “Did you two sleep together?”
His response? “No, we haven’t “f–ked around,”” Captain Jason insisted, referencing Heather’s verbiage while talking to castmate Britani Bateman on the charter that previously played out on RHOSLC Season 6.

Daisy, meanwhile, did not relent, and Jason went on to deny that he and Heather had ever shared a kiss, near-kiss, or even a “nibble at the ear,” however. As he told it, they’d simply had “an awesome time” during her trip to Sydney, Australia, which included outings to jazz bars, dancing, dinners, and, yes, some “late nights” together.
“It was actually a full week we hung out,” Captain Jason added. “And we got to know each other really well, like on a personal level.”
He went on to claim that he had previously given Andy Cohen a coy answer on a potential romance between him and Heather during a November 2025 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen “just to see his reaction.”
“I said, ‘What happens in Sydney, stays in Sydney,'” Captain Jason recalled. “But no, I need to put an end to the speculation.”
The Below Deck Down Under cast weighs in on rumors about Captain Jason and Heather Gay
During Below Deck Down Under’s Feb. 2 episode, Captain Jason and Heather made no secret of their close bond, and there were plenty of flirty moments, too. For example, Heather joked about wanting to “ride him like a f–king bronco,” while they enjoyed a tandem water activity in the Caribbean Sea.
That led the Season 4 yachties to also call out the romance rumors on the Below Deck Down Under After Show.
Sous chef Alesia Harris asked if the two had “a thing,” prompting second stew Jenna Woudberg to chime in, “Heather did mention it. She let something slip through the cracks there.”
Alesia added, “She was, like, giving him the eyes the whole time. I reckon if there was ever a chance that they’d be alone, it’d be, like, on.”
Second Officer João Franco, for his part, insisted that he wanted to stay out of the conversation, joking, “I mean, Jason’s my man, so I’ll refrain from my comments.”
When a producer pointed out that it sounded as if someone was keeping a secret, João continued, “Well, I don’t know, and I’m sure he keeps it very secretive to everyone.”
Despite her earlier good-natured ribbing, Daisy admitted that she was just trying to “stir the pot” with Captain Jason.
“To be fair, when I watched that … I got it as in you f–ked around, like you messed around, hung out,” she conceded to her boss, also referring to Heather as an “amazing” person.
What Heather Gay said about the Captain Jason Chambers romance rumors
Though Heather had made conflicting statements, she ultimately walked back her comments and denied having anything more than a friendship with Captain Jason, on multiple occasions.
During a visit to the WWHL Clubhouse one night after Captain Jason’s aforementioned interview in November, for example, Heather initially expressed dismay that he said “maybe nothing happened” between them, as Andy had summarized for her.
“Maybe nothing happened?!” the RHOSLC ‘Wife replied. “Well, that’s fine. If that’s how he defines nothing, that’s fine.”
When the WWHL host followed up to ask what did happen, however, Heather clarified that nothing romantic actually went down between them.
“I love him,” she elaborated. “We had so much fun in Australia, and it’s, like, a weird kinship when you’re in a different [country]. … It was a different country for me, and we’re doing press and we’re hanging out every day. It’s his land, you know, and he was my guide in many ways.”
