TWO COUNTY Limerick dairy farming families were honoured at this year’s Kerry Dairy Ireland Milk Quality and Sustainability Awards in the Woodlands House Hotel in Adare..
The Hickey family from Caherconlish (pictured below) and the O’Kelly family, Dromcollogher were both finalists at the prestigious ceremony which celebrates excellence among its milk suppliers.
Judges also take into account the overall quality and sustainability of their farms.
The Casey family from Causeway, County Kerry, were named the overall winners, becoming the fifth family to receive this prestigious honour since the awards were established.

Pat Murphy, CEO of Kerry Dairy Ireland, congratulated all participants and highlighted the exceptional work being carried out across the supplier base.
“We are proud to recognise the Casey family for their achievements in milk quality, sustainability and farm succession.
“Their focus on breeding, grassland management and environmental stewardship reflects the values we hold at Kerry Dairy Ireland.
“Protecting water quality, ensuring animal welfare and reducing carbon emissions are essential to delivering premium dairy products to our customers,” said Mr Murphy.
In 2024, the Kerry Agribusiness Milk Quality and Sustainability Award was won by the Fox family for their farm in Bulgaden.
