Nataliia Voskanova was hit by an oil truck in Gorey in June and she has been in hospital since then

“On behalf of Wexford County Council, I express my deepest sympathies to the family and Ukrainian community on the death of Nataliia at this difficult time.

“It was a very sad and tragic event to have happened,” said Cllr Sullivan.

Nataliia Voskanova, originally from Ukraine was living in Riverchapel, Courtown and sadly passed away on Saturday, August 28 in the Mater Hospital after spending two months in hospital following the tragic accident.

In June 2025, Nataliia was rushed to hospital after being struck by an oil lorry on Gorey Main Street. At the time of the accident, gardaí urged the public to not share any photos or videos of the incident online out of respect for the family.

Ruben Voskanov, Nataliia’s husband posted a GoFundMe to raise funds to give Nataliia a dignified farewell and to bring her ashes home to her family in Ukraine.

In the post, Ruben said their lives were shattered by this terrible tragedy. “Nataliia spent the last two months fighting bravely for her life in hospital, but despite all efforts of the doctors and her strength, she sadly passed away.

“She was my greatest support, my partner, my entire world. Losing her has left a pain I cannot put into words,” he said.

Ukrainian Family Support paid tribute to Nataliia with a post on Facebook which stated: “Recently, our Ukrainian community lost one of its dear members – Natalia Voskanova.”

They also shared support for the GoFundMe posted. “Every gesture of support means a lot during this incredibly difficult time. May her memory be eternal.”

Nataliia’s funeral service will take place at Flood’s Funeral Home, McDermott St. Gorey, on Thursday, September 4 at 11am, followed by private cremation at Mount Jerome Crematorium, Harold’s Cross, Dublin.

Nataliia is survived by her husband Ruben, children Albert and Viktor, grandchildren David and Kyryl, daughter-in-law Kateryna, and extended family, friends and neighbours.
