The warning, issued at 5pm on Saturday, remains in effect until 8pm.

During this period, the forecaster warns of difficult travel conditions, localised flooding, and possible lightning damage.

For the rest of the weekend, Met Éireann says conditions will remain warm and humid on Saturday night, with a mix of cloud and clear spells.

Showers will linger in the south and west, but the rest of the country should stay largely dry. 

Temperatures will not drop below 10C to 16C, with light breezes.

On Sunday, the forecaster predicts a mix of cloudy periods and sunny spells, with mostly dry conditions overall. Patchy rain and a few showers are possible in the southwest. 

Temperatures will reach 19C to 26C, with moderate east to southeasterly breezes.

By Sunday night, lingering showers will clear early, leaving a mix of cloud and clear spells. 

Conditions will remain humid, with temperatures not falling below 14C to 17C.
