PAYSON, Ill. (WGEM) – Body positivity is something people struggle with all year long, but especially in the summer.
Courtney Huff, owner of Huff Studio Designs, hosted an event called “Summer Body Positivity.”
“Body positivity is just like such an important thing, it always has been a very important thing to me,” Huff said.
The event is meant to show people they can be comfortable and confident as they are at any time, even during summer.
“In the summertime when you know it’s getting hotter, and everyone is a little more vulnerable. But I feel like now, more than ever, between the weather and just the way society is pushing whatever look to one way or the other, that I think it is important to remember that just as you are, there should be no pressure one way or the other,” Huff said.
The event went on for as long as people needed and was held in the scenic Falls Creek, where she hopes this one event impacts people when they leave.
“You know, you don’t think something so small could do that, but if it can I’m all for it and I am in full support of doing so,” Huff said.
Huff said that from other photo shoots she knows how much worth comes from helping someone love who they are.
“For me, that means more than any price point could ever give. If I ever get that, that’s the best and I’ve succeeded,” she explained.
Huff wants those who struggle with body positivity to hear this message:
“I hope everyone can just love themselves as they are and truly. Like that, it sounds simple, but really, it’s a big hard thing to do and I just hope everyone can do that.”
