HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – The Huntsville Museum of Art celebrated one of the great artists of the 20th century on Saturday.
Thursday would have been Andy Warhol’s 98th birthday.
The museum celebrated on Saturday with balloons and streamers, and they invited guests to try their best to mimic Warhol’s unique style on several projects.
The museum wanted to use this party to remind everyone that a huge Warhol exhibit just opened in Huntsville at the Museum of Art.
“Most people think of his iconic soup cans, or Marilyn Monroe prints, which we have both of those as well, but this is looking at who Andy Warhol is as an artist. It’s looking at his film work, his fashion work, his photography, how he viewed celebrity, how he viewed the artistic process,” said Audrey Creel with the Huntsville Museum of Art.
“So, it’s a really great, all-encompassing look at who Andy Warhol was and his impact on pop culture.”
Warhol died in 1987.
The exhibit at Huntsville’s Museum of Art will be available until October 18.
