Do you have a design dilemma? Want to remodel your home, but don’t know where to start? Are you curious about working with a professional interior designer, but don’t think you can afford one? Do you think your project is too small to merit the attention of a certified designer?
The San Diego chapter of The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) has a solution during its “Fall Spruce Up 2026” program. Participants can experience lower-cost, stress-free consultations with a professional interior designer in their own homes. Clients can schedule an hourlong, pre-paid consultation with an ASID designer for a $125 donation to ASID. The donation supports the local chapter’s educational programs, and the designer donates their time.
Clients may register for a consultation online from Aug. 15 to Sept. 7; sessions will then be scheduled in late September and October. Appointments can be arranged at convenient times throughout the month.
“Our objective is to give people the personal experience of working with a professional on a one-to-one basis,” said Kirsten Recce, president of the San Diego chapter.
“Interior designers bring knowledge, creativity and practical problem-solving skills to every project. They take the time to understand each client’s personal style, lifestyle and budget, then help translate those needs into spaces that are both beautiful and functional. By providing professional guidance throughout the process, a designer can help clients avoid costly mistakes, make confident decisions and enjoy a more rewarding design experience.”
ASID has experts in all areas of design, including space planning, staging, color selection, kitchen design, aging in place, ADUs, art and furniture placement, outdoor rooms, historic preservation, media rooms, multigenerational living, universal design, window treatments, and commercial design.
The local ASID chapter will pair consumers throughout San Diego County with the ideal professional based on their individual needs and geographic location. Clients can also arrange for additional time directly with the designer at their normal hourly rate.
“ ‘Spruce Up’ gives consumers who may have never worked with a professional interior designer a comfortable introduction to the profession,” Reece said. “Professional design guidance is not an extravagance. Designers can help minimize costs by eliminating costly mistakes and using their ingenuity and expertise to stay within your budget.”
