Set in 12th-century England, the new series will adapt the classic tale of the “roguish outlaw hero” who stole money from the rich to give to the poor while exploring the love story between him and Marian.
The synopsis reads: “Following the Norman invasion of England, Rob – a Saxon forester’s son – and Marian, the daughter of a Norman lord – fall in love and work together to fight for justice and freedom.

“As Rob rises as the leader of a band of rebel outlaws, Marian infiltrates the power at court, as both work together to thwart royal corruption and bring peace to the land.”
If the new trailer is anything to go by, it looks as though the new series will be an emotional one full of heartbreak and epic love stories.
As the trailer shows, Rob is stripped of his family home and his father is brutally executed by the Sheriff of Nottingham via a public hanging.

Rob soon sets his sights on rebellion, saying: “They kill our people and call it justice. And yet they call us thieves. Then let us be thieves with a purpose.”
Described as a “smart, sweeping, romantic adventure” with “historical authenticity”, the upcoming series will see new episodes premiering weekly, with the season finale airing on Sunday, 28 December.
Previously speaking about casting Patten as Robin, head of MGM+ Michael Wright said (via Deadline): “We are very excited to cast Jack Patten in his first television series leading role.”

He continued: “We knew immediately when we saw him that he was our ideal Robin and uniquely able to bring to life this iconic character.
“Jack brings unique charisma and heart to this new iteration of the classic romantic adventure of a rogue outlaw who steals from the rich to care for the poor and finds his soul mate in the equally powerful Marian.”
Robin Hood will premiere on MGM+ on 2 November.
