The cast has been announced for the upcoming World War II spy adventure Fortitude. Production has commenced in London, and there are some pretty big names in the mix. The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent’s Nicolas Cage, Downton Abbey’s Matthew Goode, Good Omens’ Michael Sheen, The Thursday Murder Club’s Ben Kingsley, Belgravia: The Next Chapter’s Alice Eve and Rebel Moon’s Ed Skrien have all signed up.
The rest of the ensemble cast announced today include Art Malik, Lukas Haas, Adrian Topol, Emilio Sakraya, and Paul Anderson.
The film follows the efforts of British Army intelligence officers Dudley Clarke and Thomas Argyll Robertson as they come up with new strategies to fool the Nazis, including false information about placements of armies and weapons.

They also used a network of double agents, including real-life turncoat Dusko Popov, the Yugoslavian playboy who served as an inspiration for Ian Fleming when he created James Bond.

The film has been directed by Simon West, who previously helmed Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, The Expendables 2 and Con Air (which Cage starred in). It was written by Simon Afram, who also serves as producer.
“We are excited to bring together such a remarkable ensemble. Their chemistry and depth, paired with West’s direction, elevate this story into something truly gripping and unforgettable,” Afram said.
Furthermore, historical consultation has been provided by Joshua Levine, who previously worked on Dunkirk and Blitz.

Meanwhile, Sheen was just announced for another historical drama, this time on stage.
In Owain & Henry, he’ll be playing Owain Glyndŵr, the last native Welshman to hold the title of Prince of Wales. The stage show is set to premiere in Cardiff next year and tickets go on sale on 3 November.
It will tell the story of how Glyndŵr fought back against the English and King Henry IV, establishing Welsh independence.
Fortitude is currently filming and doesn’t currently have a release date.
