A man is to stand trial in Co Donegal charged with 12 charges of harassment against different people.
Francis Lynn appeared by videolink at Letterkenny District Court.
He faces 12 charges of harassment of different people on various dates between 2022 and 2023.
The charges are Contrary to Section 10(1) and (6) of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997 as amended by Section 10 of the Harassment, Harmful Communications and Related Offences Act 2020.
Lynn, of Hillside Crescent, Manorhamilton, Co Leitrim, also faces two other charges.
The 41-year-old is also charged that on the Jun 21st, 2023, at Cavan Post Office, he sent a threatening or grossly offensive communication to the new tenants of 9 Milltown Court, Kilmacrennan, Co. Donegal about three named men with intent to cause harm.
This charge is Contrary to Section 4(1) and (3) of the Harassment, Harmful Communications and Related Offences Act 2020.”
And he is also charged that on a date unknown between June 17th, 2022 and July 14th, at a location unknown within the State, did knowingly make a false report tending to show that an offence had been committed and tending to give rise to apprehension for the safety of a named child.
This charge is Contrary to Section 12(a) of the Criminal Law Act, 1976.
Garda Gillian Page gave evidence of serving a book of evidence on Lynn’s solicitor, Ms Catherine Taffe.
Garda Sergeant Maurice Doyle said the Director of Public Prosecutions had consented for the accused to be sent forward for trial to the next sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court commencing on October 28th next.
Ms Taffe requested and was granted legal aid and also a senior and junior counsel for the case.
A reporting restriction was also granted in respect of another charge.
Judge Ciaran Liddy adjourned the case until October 28th at the circuit court.
