The Taoiseach has said he would have “no issue with” Donald Trump addressing the Oireachtas next year, if the US president visits Ireland for the Irish Open golf tournament in Doonbeg.

Micheál Martin was speaking in New York after Donald Trump’s address to the United Nations (UN), which prompted concern among EU allies that shared democratic values were being eroded. Donald Trump used the speech to berate European climate and immigration policies, telling leaders “your countries are going to hell”.
