Amanda Holden has opened up about how she stays in shape, revealing it’s a mix of “unintentional fasting,” a busy lifestyle, and enjoying life’s indulgences. The 54-year-old Britain’s Got Talent judge has insisted that while staying fit isn’t “easy,” her childhood gymnastics and hectic schedule help to keep her trim.

“I did gymnastics for years, it was what I wanted to do more than anything, I didn’t finish it until I was 15, so I think my body has always retained some sort of a figure,” Amanda said.

Despite sharing glamorous bikini shots on Instagram this summer, Amanda admitted she has been letting loose, drinking daily with co-star Alan Carr during filming of Amanda and Alan’s Greek Job in Corfu.

“I haven’t been on my Peloton since July 18 when I went to Corfu and I have drunk every day. In the summer, that’s what I do, I let it all go and then I get it back in time for Britain’s Got Talent, and everything else in the lead up to Christmas,” she explained.

Her schedule, which begins at 5am with Heart Radio’s Breakfast Show and ends with dinner at home, means she often “accidentally” fasts.

Speaking to Daily Mail, Amanda admitted: “Accidentally I do the 16-hour fasting thing because I have my tea at six or even earlier sometimes with the girls when everyone’s at home and I won’t have my breakfast until 9am when I’m on Heart. Then I realise I have fasted. I am busy, I never stop and I eat loads.”

Amanda credits her approach to balance rather than restriction and admitted that she feels better in herself as the years go on. “It’s about trying to stay happy and balanced. If it’s a Tuesday and I want an Aperol then I will. Or if I want a cheese sandwich at 10pm at night, I will. I am not strict on myself but I am healthy by default because I’m a vegetarian.”

She also relies on Peloton sessions and what she calls her “secret weapon,” spray tans.

It comes after Amanda recently shared her one-ingredient breakfast secret. During a chat on Heart Breakfast with co-host Jason “JK” King, Amanda revealed she’s been opting for boiled eggs in the morning, saying: “I’ve ordered two hard-boiled eggs [for breakfast].”

The mother-of-two does make sure to hydrate regularly, believing it’s “good for my body and my soul”. Rather than hitting the gym, Amanda prefers to keep fit by running three times a week, choosing to run for approximately 36 minutes each time.

Chatting with Cosmopolitan last year, the star revealed her unique fitness mantras: “I have to run for my rose wine in the summer and run for my red wine in winter. And I don’t do it because I feel I have to; I do it for my own discipline and dignity.”

Although she isn’t exactly a gym bunny, the renowned Britain’s Got Talent judge has taken a shine to yoga after becoming a mum to her daughter Hollie, noting that it aids her in mastering breathing techniques and instilling inner peace.

Amanda shares daughters Lexie, 19, and Hollie, 13, with husband Chris Hughes.
