The 2025 Kips Bay Decorator Show House New York<\/a> has finally arrived. The hotly anticipated interior design spectacle\u2014which is celebrating its landmark 50th anniversary<\/a>\u2014usually takes place every spring, but this year, it’s part of fall\u2019s jam-packed cultural season. Open through October 19,<\/a> the Show House has also traded uptown for downtown for the first time ever, completely transforming a 9,000-square-foot Greenwich Village brownstone. The star-studded roster of design firms, each of which is assigned a designated room, includes ELLE Decor A-List members Branca,<\/a> Corey Damen Jenkins & Associates,<\/a> Huniford Design Studio,<\/a> Jamie Drake,<\/a> Mark Hampton,<\/a> and Vicente Wolf Associates.<\/a><\/p>\n

Founded in 1973, the annual event\u2014which has since spawned satellite Show Houses in Palm Beach<\/a> and Dallas<\/a>\u2014has raised over $30 million for the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club, a nonprofit that provides educational programming to underserved students in the Bronx. Among those in the design community, the Show House has developed a reputation as a place where creativity and experimentation reign supreme. It\u2019s here that many designers, free of client demands, are able to take risks and express fresh ideas, offering a glimpse of where the industry is heading going into 2026.<\/p>\n

Below, take a look at five trends we spotted at this year\u2019s Show House.<\/p>\n

Ford Huniford\u2019s room is sheathed in cork.<\/p>\n

Cork Drenching <\/p>\n

You\u2019ve heard of color drenching<\/a> (and double drenching<\/a>). Now, get ready for the cork version. On the top floor of the Show House, Ford Huniford of New York\u2013based Huniford Design Studio<\/a> conceived a loft sheathed entirely\u2014including the ceiling, lights, shelving, and window sill\u2014in cork, specifically a wall covering from Phillip Jeffries’ Cork Couture collection.<\/a> The hand-crafted material is infused with a marble effect that gives the space an enhanced luster. The result provides visual intrigue without being too loud, creating an ideal backdrop to allow for the sculptural furnishings and works of art to shine.<\/p>\n

Pink & Green Redux<\/p>\n

Pink and green<\/a> is a classic color combination synonymous with Lilly Pulitzer and the Palm Beach set. (Not to mention the whole Wicked<\/a> of it all.) It\u2019s a proven match in interiors as well, as evidenced by designers Alexa Hampton and Ben Pentreath\u2014both of whom used toned-down versions of the complimentary hues in their spaces. Hampton went full-tilt with the bedroom she designed, working with design studio Twenty2 to translate a pink orchid pattern from an Oscar de la Renta<\/a> dress into upholstery and wallpaper. This rosy print contrasted with her key lime-colored walls. For his drawing room, Pentreath used accent pieces such as painterly green lamps crowned by pink shades, as well as an emerald armchair with pink piping. It\u2019s always a winning combination.<\/p>\n

Trompe L\u2019oeil 2.0<\/p>\n

Designer Alessandra Branca enlisted Gracie to create a hand-painted trompe l\u2019oeil wall mural that envelopes her elegant drawing room. While the faux boiserie detailing is undoubtedly impressive, a closer look reveals that even the seemingly priceless works of art by Lucio Fontana are cleverly painted directly on the wall, as well. This trick of the eye creates an artistic depth virtually impossible to replicate. Elsewhere in the Show House, Alexa Hampton<\/a> used a trompe l\u2019oeil mirror by artist Celia Rogge to make a sly statement above the fireplace.<\/p>\n

Illuminated Stone<\/p>\n

Backlit stone had a moment earlier this year at KBIS,<\/a> when Cambria turned heads with an innovative illuminated installation. At the Show House, designer Charles Pavarini III of Pavarini Design put a bespoke spin on a \u201cZoom Room\u201d office by creating a custom wall work envisioned as an ideal background for video-conferencing. The striking piece combines walnut and backlit Cosentino stone,<\/a> which together provide an ultra-flattering glow.<\/p>\n

Paper Wrapping<\/p>\n

Paper-wrapped decorative objects have been trending since brands like Parvum Opus<\/a> and artists such as Thomas Englehart<\/a> elevated the craft into an art form with marbleized designs. Alexa Hampton took things a step further in her Show House bedroom, where she enlisted Englehart to devise a fantastical fireplace finished in rich magenta-painted paper, resembling crystal-embedded stone. It\u2019s a brilliant solution for enhancing spaces that might not otherwise support heavier, bulky pieces.<\/p>\n
