Dublin Fire Brigade<\/a> units responded to a fire that broke out near the International Financial Services Centre<\/a> (IFSC) in Dublin<\/a> city centre on Tuesday evening, prompting an urgent request for Gas Networks Ireland<\/a> (GNI) to attend the scene. <\/p>\n

The cause of the blaze was not immediately clear, however a crew of fire fighters were seen battling severe flames on the underside of a bridge at George\u2019s Dock. <\/p>\n

Other footage appeared to capture bluey-green flames, while the business and residential area was blanketed in thick smoke. <\/p>\n

A subsequent statement from GNI said it had a crew on the site but that it was \u201cnot yet known at this stage whether the cause of the fire is gas related\u201d. <\/p>\n

The incident, which drew a significant emergency services response, also caused some disruption to nearby public transport. <\/p>\n

The fire broke out early on Tuesday evening. Several firefighters were using 70mm hoses to control it and could be seen kneeling at the bottom of a dried-out dock area with hoses pointed at the bridge. <\/p>\n

Three fire tenders were dispatched and senior officers were at the north inner city scene co-ordinating efforts.<\/p>\n

Garda\u00ed were also present at the scene, which is close to KPMG\u2019s offices at Harbourmaster Place. <\/p>\n

As a result of the incident, Luas Red Line services were only operating from Tallaght\/Saggart to Connolly. There was no service from Bus\u00e1ras to The Point. <\/p>\n

\u201cLuas tickets are valid on Dublin Bus for the duration of this service disruption. We apologise for any inconvenience caused,\u201d a statement said.<\/p>\n
