I think that&#8217;ll be an interesting thing to watch from a philosophical perspective.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP\/\/\/ywAAAAAAQABAAACAUwAOw==\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" height=\"661\" width=\"960\" class=\"yf-1gfnohs loader\"\/>     <\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">It is not the first time that senior industry figures have raised concerns about the issue, referred to as \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/tech\/what-happened-when-i-asked-ai-to-do-my-job-b2793850.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:peak data;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">peak data<\/a>\u201d, whereby AI models consume all of the internet\u2019s vast troves of information.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">An article in the journal Nature in December predicted that a \u201ccrisis point\u201d would be reached by 2028. \u201cThe internet is a vast ocean of human knowledge, but it isn\u2019t infinite,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/clicks.trx-hub.com\/xid\/esimedia_t58ukgmjkf95_theindependent?q=http%3A%2F%2Fgo.redirectingat.com%2F%3Fid%3D44681X1458326%26articleId%3Db2793850%26url%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Fwww.nature.com%252Farticles%252Fd41586-024-03990-2%26sref%3D%2Ftech%2Fwhat-happened-when-i-asked-ai-to-do-my-job-b2793850.html&amp;p=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.independent.co.uk%2Ftech%2Fwhat-happened-when-i-asked-ai-to-do-my-job-b2793850.html&amp;article_id=2793850&amp;author=Anthony+Cuthbertson&amp;tag=artificial+intelligence%2CChatGPT%2CInternet%2CElon+Musk&amp;section=N%2FA&amp;category=N%2FA&amp;sub_category=N%2FA&amp;updated_time=2025-07-27T12%3A15%3A19.000Z&amp;utm_content=N%2FA&amp;utm_campaign=feature-body&amp;utm_term=B-1&amp;utm_medium=desktop&amp;ref=www.google.com&amp;utm_source=search&amp;fbclid=N%2FA&amp;gclid=N%2FA&amp;trx-iid=iid1759508131598bhi\" rel=\"sponsored nofollow noopener\" data-i13n=\"elm:affiliate_link;elmt:premonetized\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:article;elm:affiliate_link;elmt:premonetized;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">article<\/a> stated. \u201cArtificial intelligence researchers have nearly sucked it dry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">OpenAI co-founder Ilya Sutskever said last year that the lack of training data would mean that AI\u2019s rapid development \u201cwill unquestionably end\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">The situation is similar to fossil fuels, according to Mr Sutskever, as human-generated content is a finite resource just like oil or coal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">\u201cWe\u2019ve achieved peak data and there\u2019ll be no more,\u201d he said. \u201cWe have to deal with the data that we have.
