{"id":104641,"date":"2025-10-06T02:49:11","date_gmt":"2025-10-06T02:49:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/104641\/"},"modified":"2025-10-06T02:49:11","modified_gmt":"2025-10-06T02:49:11","slug":"aghada-and-eire-og-have-to-do-it-all-again-after-tense-senior-a-final","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/104641\/","title":{"rendered":"Aghada and \u00c9ire \u00d3g have to do it all again after tense Senior A final"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\">\n             Aghada 1-7 \u00c9ire \u00d3g 0-10\n        <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Aghada and \u00c9ire \u00d3g will have to do it all again as their Cork Credit Unions Senior A ladies football championship final ended in a draw at MTU on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">It was no great surprise to see the sides level as it took a 20-metre free shoot-out to separate them last year before Aghada won.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The final is provisionally fixed for next Saturday which will see some of the \u00c9ire \u00d3g side possibly having to play a football final on Saturday and a camogie decider on Sunday. A number of them are involved with St Finbarr\u2019s who play St Catherine\u2019s in the camogie next Sunday.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/4808949_2_articleinlinemobile_DSC_9983.jpeg\" alt=\" Laura Cleary kicks a point against Aghada. Picture: Larry Cummins<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Overall it was probably a fair result with both sides having spells of domination.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Aghada took the lead five minutes in when Abigail Ring pointed from a free, before Orlaith Cahalane got \u00c9ire \u00d3g off the mark from the restart. Cahalane was on target again after eight minutes to put her side in front, with Ring equalising at the other end a minute later.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Sadbh McGoldrick put \u00c9ire \u00d3g back in front with Ring replying, to make it 0-3 each after 13 minutes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">A minute later and Aghada got the first goal of the game, when Roisin Phelan started a move from midfield, finding Rachel Leahy, whose precision pass found Kate O\u2019Farrell bursting forward from cornerback to find the back of the net.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/4808952_2_articleinlinemobile_DSC_9821.jpeg\" alt=\" Katie O\u2019Farrell celebrates her goal. Picture: Larry Cummins<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Cahalane replied at the other end, before Leahy pointed herself, to make it 1-4 to 0-4.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Laura Cleary pointed from a free to put two between the sides before Aghada had keeper Sarah Walsh to thank to ensure they led at half-time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">First, she pulled off a double save from Cahalane, before then somehow getting a touch to a McGoldrick shot to deny \u00c9ire \u00d3g a green flag and see her side in front at the break. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">It didn\u2019t take \u00c9ire \u00d3g long to get back on level terms with Cahalane adding to her tally and Emma Cleary also scoring to make it 1-4 to 0-7 after 34 minutes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u00c9ire \u00d3g went in front after 41 minutes when Laura Cleary pointed from a free, before Maisie McRae had the sides level again.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Orlaith Cremin and Ring exchanged points before Shauna Cronin put \u00c9ire \u00d3g back in front, with seven minutes to go.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Ring pointed another free to level it, before Orlaith Cahalane was sin-binned late on as \u00c9ire \u00d3g finished the game with 14.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/4808955_2_articleinlinemobile_DSC_0165.jpeg\" alt=\" Anxious faces on the Aghada sideline as the sides are level in the final minutes.
