<\/p>\nOver one million households to be hit with price rises, with Government refusing to bring in energy credits for Budget 2026\n<\/p>\n
Yuno Energy said it will freeze electricity and gas prices for the winter months.<\/p>\n
It claimed that new customers can save almost \u20ac1,000 a year if they sign up for both gas and electricity with Yuno.<\/p>\n
PrepayPower is also freezing electricity and gas prices.<\/p>\n
The move by PrepayPower will \u00adbenefit its 240,000 customers.<\/p>\n
Last month, Electric Ireland said it was freezing its electricity prices for its 1.1 million customers for the winter and cutting gas prices by 4pc.<\/p>\n
It comes as more than one million households will be affected by price rises this month, with Energia, Bord G\u00e1is Energy and Pinergy raising their prices.<\/p>\n

SSE Airtricity is also increasing its electricity prices this month, its second hike this year.<\/p>\n

Yuno Energy, which is a sister company to PrepayPower, said the commitment not to raise prices this winter will benefit its 65,000 customers.<\/p>\n
The energy supplier said the price freeze would mean that its customers would benefit from the lowest rates in the market.<\/p>\n
It said that after recent price rises announced by key competitors, a customer moving to Yuno Energy for both electricity and gas could save up to \u20ac945.<\/p>\n
This is made up of savings of \u20ac551 on electricity and \u20ac384 on gas, based on average usage.<\/p>\n

Yuno chief executive Cathal Fay said the absence of universal energy \u00adcredits this winter would make customers more price-sensitive than ever.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe coming winter is going to be difficult for many customers and we believe that this announcement will reassure both existing and new customers that they can have predictability about energy costs for the coming months,\u201d Mr Fay said.<\/p>\n
T\u00e1naiste Simon Harris said recently he believed there could be a \u201cdegree of price-gouging by energy companies in the market\u201d after a string of energy suppliers said they were increasing their prices from this month.<\/p>\n
Energia is raising its electricity unit rates by 13.5pc from October 9, and also hiking its standing charge. This will affect around 300,000 customers, adding \u20ac200 to their annual bills.<\/p>\n
Bord G\u00e1is Energy is increasing its electricity unit rates by 13.5pc and its standing charges by 12pc from October 12. This will affect around 370,000 customers, adding \u20ac218 to their annual bills.<\/p>\n
SSE Airtricity\u2019s 460,000 customers will be hit with a 9.5pc rise in electricity prices from October 20.<\/p>\n
This will add \u20ac150 to their average annual bills.<\/p>\n
Pinergy is to hit its 28,000 customers with a hike of close to 10pc, from October 13.<\/p>\n
This will add \u20ac199 to the typical annual bill.<\/p>\n
The Government has ruled out paying energy credits in tomorrow\u2019s budget. Last year, households received two payments totalling \u20ac250.<\/p>\n
Commercial director at price-comparison site Switcher.ie, Eoin Clarke said the rise in energy bills means many households face a challenging winter.<\/p>\n
