After falling last Monday in the football final, losing last year\u2019s Premier 2 Minor Hurling Championship final after a replay to Shandrum, this one mattered hugely.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">At P\u00e1irc U\u00ed Rinn on Monday night, the Barrs steadied themselves when it counted most, and were worth every bit of their 11-point win over Bandon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The Barrs had led from start to finish, Conor O\u2019Donoghue and James Martin their standout shooters as they retired at the interval with a seven-point advantage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The margin remained seven by the 43rd minute, before a stunning over the shoulder point from Martin and an excellent effort from Liam O\u2019Regan pushed them 1-15 to 0-10 clear with a quarter of an hour to go.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">They would suffer what would only go down as a wobble, en route to victory. Picture: Eddie O&#8217;Hare<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">That brought the margin back to six, but within five minutes, an effort from Charlie Galvin and two O\u2019Donoghue frees had wiped out the penalty gain.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Bandon would only score two more points, and the game would only see two more from play. U16 hurler CJ Barrett and Bandon\u2019s Cathal O\u2019Riordan were the only two outside of free-takers Denis O\u2019Mahony and O\u2019Donoghue to raise white flags from there.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Both arrived at the death, after the Barrs lead had swelled to 11, and O\u2019Riordan\u2019s was Bandon\u2019s only point from play in the latter half.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">It was a big result and performance from St Finbarr\u2019s. Picture; Eddie O&#8217;Hare<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The first half took its time to find a pulse, but when it did, the Barrs were the ones dictating it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">They rattled off seven of the first eight scores to surge 0-7 to 0-1 ahead after just 13 minutes, moving with the conviction of a side intent on making a statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">O\u2019Donoghue was the spark and the flame. Four of that early haul were his, that green and red Cooper everywhere in the final third.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">He finished the half with seven in total \u2013 four from play and one outrageous strike straight off a sideline cut that had everyone stunned.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">But the six-point cushion would briefly disappear. Bandon found their rhythm midway through the half, landing five of the next six to cut the deficit to two, 0-8 to 0-6 after 26 minutes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Four of those came from placed balls, though, and the Barrs\u2019 own momentum had stalled \u2013Martin\u2019s effort in the 25th minute was their first in nearly a quarter of an hour.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/4810695_4_articleinlinemobile_EOHBandon04.jpg\" alt=\"St Finbarr's James Murray clears from Bandon's Cathal O'Riordan. Alex O\u2019Herlihy teed up Adam Philips, whose shot soared high and crept inside the near post for the game\u2019s opening goal \u2013 a moment that pushed the Barrs five clear.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Bandon\u2019s O\u2019Riordan, lively throughout, clipped over a reply, but O\u2019Donoghue answered with three white flags on the spin to leave the Togher men 1-11 to 0-7 in front at half-time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Three more Barrs points on the resumption put them 10 clear.
