Three people have been arrested by gardai investigating ‘a number of incidents’ that occurred in Co Kilkenny<\/a> at the weekend.<\/p>\n Shortly before 3pm on Saturday afternoon (October 4), Garda\u00ed<\/a> were alerted to a car driving in a dangerous manner and a material damage road traffic collision<\/a> which occurred on the Old Dublin Road in Lyrath, Kilkenny City.<\/p>\n Garda\u00ed then received a further report of dangerous driving and public disorder which had occurred on Maudlin Street.<\/p>\n According to gardai, the vehicle entered Maudlin Street from the wrong side and members of the public responded by trying to flag down the vehicle.<\/p>\n According to gardai, a man and a woman on Maudlin Street were subsequently assaulted.<\/p>\n Get all the big crime and court stories direct to your phone on our new WhatsApp service. <\/strong>Sign up here<\/strong><\/a>. If you don’t like our group you can leave it at any time<\/p>\n The man and woman, both aged in their 30s, were treated at the scene before being conveyed to St. Luke\u2019s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries<\/p>\n Gardai responded and ‘with the assistance of bystanders’ two men, both aged in their 30s, and a woman in her 20s were arrested at the scene.<\/p>\n The three individuals are being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda station in Kilkenny.<\/p>\n A vehicle was also seized by Garda\u00ed under the Road Traffic Act.<\/p>\n Gardai have said investigations into the incidents are ongoing as they appealed for witnesses to contact them.<\/p>\n A garda spokesperson said in a statement: “Garda\u00ed are appealing for witnesses following a number of incidents that occurred in Kilkenny city on Saturday 4th October 2025.<\/p>\n “Anyone who was on the Old Dublin Road and Maudlin Street between 2:30pm and 3:15pm on Saturday 4th October 2025 and has video camera footage (including dash-cam), is asked to make it available to Garda\u00ed.
