{"id":107534,"date":"2025-10-08T00:18:08","date_gmt":"2025-10-08T00:18:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/107534\/"},"modified":"2025-10-08T00:18:08","modified_gmt":"2025-10-08T00:18:08","slug":"infant-boy-dies-in-dublin-road-traffic-incident-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/107534\/","title":{"rendered":"Infant boy dies in Dublin road traffic incident \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">A young boy has died as a result of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/road-safety\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/road-safety\/\">road traffic incident<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin\/\">Dublin<\/a> on Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">The incident occurred around 2pm outside a residence in Rathmintin, Jobstown.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The child, described in a Garda statement as an infant with no specific age given, was transferred to Children\u2019s Health Ireland at Crumlin, where he was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Garda\u00ed and emergency services attended the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">In the statement, Garda\u00ed noted that a technical examination by forensic collision investigators was conducted, and a family liaison officer has been appointed to support the family.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">Meanwhile, an elderly woman died  in a separate collision involving two cars  near Crosskeys, Co Cavan, at around 3.30pm. Garda\u00ed are treating the incident as a medical emergency.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The woman, who was in her 80s, was driving one of the cars and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her body was taken to the morgue at Cavan General Hospital where a postmortem examination is due to take place.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">The other driver, a woman in her 40s, was brought to Cavan General Hospital for assessment. Garda forensic collision investigators conducted an examination of the scene on a local road in Carrickatober.
