\n\tThe Zurich Film Festival<\/a> will honor Brazilian actor, director and producer Wagner Moura with its Golden Eye award for career achievement.<\/p>\n

\n\tMoura, who won best actor<\/a> at this year\u2019s Cannes<\/a> Film Festival for his role in Kleber Mendon\u00e7a Filho\u2019s The Secret Agent<\/a>, will travel to Zurich to receive the award during the festival, which runs September 25 to October 5. He will also present the film at a gala premiere and take part in a ZFF Masters session discussing his career and creative process.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWith The Secret Agent, Wagner Moura carries the story with an electrifying presence unlike anything else,\u201d said ZFF artistic director Christian Jungen. \u201cFor his exceptional performance in the film and for a career that has made him one of Latin America\u2019s most charismatic and versatile actors, we are honoring him with the Golden Eye. For the first time, this award goes to an actor from South America.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn The Secret Agent, Moura plays Marcelo, a university professor and technology expert who returns to Recife in 1977 in an attempt to reconnect with his son but finds himself caught in the violence and political tensions of the time.<\/p>\n

\n\tMoura first rose to international<\/a> prominence with his performance as Pablo Escobar in Netflix\u2019s Narcos<\/a>, which earned him a Golden Globe nomination. His credits include Walter Salles\u2019 Behind the Sun, Jos\u00e9 Padilha\u2019s Elite Squad<\/a>, Neill Blomkamp\u2019s Elysium, Olivier Assayas\u2019 Wasp Network, Anthony and Joe Russo\u2019s The Gray Man, and Greg Barker\u2019s Sergio. He appeared in Alex Garland\u2019s Civil War<\/a> and currently stars in Apple TV+\u2019s Dope Thief<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tAs a director, Moura made his debut with Marighella<\/a>, which premiered at the 2019 Berlinale.<\/p>\n
