{"id":108008,"date":"2025-10-08T04:46:12","date_gmt":"2025-10-08T04:46:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/108008\/"},"modified":"2025-10-08T04:46:12","modified_gmt":"2025-10-08T04:46:12","slug":"taylor-swift-addresses-the-life-of-a-showgirl-album-criticism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/108008\/","title":{"rendered":"Taylor Swift Addresses &#8216;The Life of a Showgirl&#8217; Album Criticism"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/taylor-swift\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Taylor Swift<\/a>\u2018s The Life of a Showgirl is already on track to be her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/chart-beat\/taylor-swift-life-of-a-showgirl-first-day-sales-debut-week-1236082178\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">biggest album yet<\/a> \u2014 but it also might be her most polarizing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tWhile many fans are absolutely loving the new project \u2014 which has already cleared 3 million traditional sales in just a few days \u2014 others have criticized Showgirl for its simplistic, playful lyricism on certain tracks. But as Swift said in an interview with Apple Music 1 posted Tuesday (Oct. 7), she welcomes it all.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cThe rule of show business is if it\u2019s the first week of my album release, and you are saying either my name or my album title, you\u2019re helping,\u201d she told host Zane Lowe with a smile. \u201cI have a lot of respect for people\u2019s subjective opinions on art. I\u2019m not the art police. Everybody is allowed to feel exactly how they want.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tSwift went on to explain that whether people realize it or not, a lot of the modern buzzwords she employs on Showgirl \u2014 such as \u201cI\u2019m not a bad b\u2014h, and this isn\u2019t savage\u201d on \u201cEldest Daughter\u201d or \u201cDid you girl-boss too close to the sun?\u201d on \u201cCancelled!\u201d \u2014 were very intentional. \u201cThis album by personality was a funnier album,\u201d she told Lowe, comparing Showgirl to her much more melancholy<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/charts\/billboard-200\/\"> Billboard 200<\/a>-topper The Tortured Poets Department.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cThe character attributes I was highlighting in that writing process were much more serious and sensitive and introspective, and oftentimes more earnest and stoic \u2014 the characteristics of a poet,\u201d Swift continued. \u201cThis one was like, showgirls are mischievous, fun, scandalous, sexy, fun, flirty, hilarious \u2026 I\u2019m so proud of this song craft. I\u2019m so proud of these melodies and these lyrics and these stories, and going in and out of character and kind of playing with your style speak.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tRegardless of people\u2019s personal feelings on Showgirl, one thing everyone can probably agree is how different it is to Tortured Poets \u2014 or any of the 14-time Grammy winner\u2019s past albums, really. Reviews for the new project have fallen all across the board, with some hailing it as peak Swift genius and others panning it altogether. (Check out <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/pop\/taylor-swift-life-of-a-showgirl-review-1236081098\/\">Billboard<\/a><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/pop\/taylor-swift-life-of-a-showgirl-review-1236081098\/\">\u2018s review<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBut, as Swift explained to Lowe, she thinks more people will come around to Showgirl down the road. \u201cWhat you\u2019re going through in your life is going to affect whether you relate to the music that I\u2019m putting out at any given moment,\u201d she said. \u201cWhat I often love seeing my fans say is, \u2018I used to be someone who didn\u2019t relate to Reputation, and now that I\u2019ve been through some other things in my life, that\u2019s my favorite album.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cWe\u2019re doing this thing for keeps,\u201d she added. \u201cI have such an eye on legacy when I\u2019m making my music. I know what I made.
