interacted with an on-duty Garda<\/a>.<\/p>\nIt said the incident involved the serious harm of a 51-year-old man, who has since died.<\/p>\n
Fiosr\u00fa said in a statement: “The man has now died and Fiosr\u00fa have been liaising with the Dublin City Coroner and the Office of the State Pathologist in relation to a post mortem.”<\/p>\n
The incident was referred to Fiosr\u00fa by An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na on Friday, 15 August 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The police ombudsman said it has commenced a criminal investigation into the incident pursuant to section 208(1)(b) of the Policing, Security and Community Safety Act, 2024.<\/p>\n
It has also issued a renewed appeal for witnesses to the incident.<\/p>\n
“Fiosr\u00fa thanks members of the public who have already provided information on the incident and is again appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward,” it said. “It is vital to the investigation that any persons who witnessed this serious incident contact Fiosr\u00fa.<\/p>\n
“Fiosr\u00fa would like to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity of the Holiday Inn, O\u2019Connell Street, Dublin 1, D01 T2X2 at approximately 4.15am on Friday, 15 August 2025, or any passing vehicles, including taxis that may have dashcam footage from that location and \/or on a mobile device.<\/p>\n
“Anyone with information which may be of assistance to this independent investigation is asked to contact Fiosr\u00fa at 0818 600 800 or info@fiosr\u00fa.ie.”<\/p>\n
Fiosr\u00fa added that the investigation team and a family liaison officer will continue to liaise directly with the man\u2019s family.<\/p>\n
