On Wednesday, <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/netflix\/\" id=\"auto-tag_netflix\" data-tag=\"netflix\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Netflix<\/a> unveiled the official trailer for the uniquely American saga starring <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/joel-edgerton\/\" id=\"auto-tag_joel-edgerton\" data-tag=\"joel-edgerton\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Joel Edgerton<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/felicity-jones\/\" id=\"auto-tag_felicity-jones\" data-tag=\"felicity-jones\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Felicity Jones<\/a>, Kerry Condon and William H. Macy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe pic, adapted from Denis Johnson\u2019s 2002 short story (later published as a novella) of the same name, was<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/01\/netflix-train-dreams-acquisition-sundance-1236273020\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"1236273020\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> acquired by the streamer after its Sundance Film Festival debut<\/a>, and just played TIFF. It hits theaters November 7 before bowing on Netflix on November 21.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tEdgerton plays Robert Grainier, a railroad worker and logger working in the early 20th century Pacific Northwest who \u201cleads a life of unexpected depth and beauty\u201d amid tragedy in a rapidly changing America (\u201cIt all going by so fast,\u201d Jones\u2019 Gladys tells her husband).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe trailer features stunning visuals of forests and mountain vistas, with massive trees that stay majestic even when they are being chopped down. The dialogue seems quiet, as if to let the sounds of nature take the main speaking parts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cThis is rough work, gentlemen, not just on the body,\u201d Macy\u2019s Arn Peeples tells his crew. \u201cWe just cut down trees that have been here for 500 years. That touches a man\u2019s soul whether you recognize it or not.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tBentley directed Train Dreams, and adapted the screenplay with Kwedar.
