{"id":109799,"date":"2025-10-08T22:38:09","date_gmt":"2025-10-08T22:38:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/109799\/"},"modified":"2025-10-08T22:38:09","modified_gmt":"2025-10-08T22:38:09","slug":"jamie-dimon-says-recession-could-happen-in-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/109799\/","title":{"rendered":"Jamie Dimon Says Recession \u2018Could Happen in 2026\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jpmorganchase.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">JPMorgan Chase<\/a> CEO <a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/jamiedimon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Jamie Dimon<\/a> declined to rule out the possibility of a recession in 2026, saying Tuesday (Oct. 7) that he will \u201chope for the best, plan for the worst.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During an <a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=aK6P7VIlRag\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">interview<\/a> with Bloomberg Television, when asked if he is \u201cworried about\u201d the possibility of a recession in 2026, Dimon said: \u201cI think it could happen in 2026. I just, \u2018I\u2019m not worried about it,\u2019 is a different statement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll deal with it, we\u2019ll serve our clients, we\u2019ll navigate through it,\u201d Dimon said. \u201cA lot of us have been through it before. You don\u2019t wish it because certain people get hurt, but it could happen in 2026.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dimon pointed to positives and negatives that are affecting the economy. He said deregulation, animal spirits and the stimulus in the <a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/119th-congress\/house-bill\/1\/text\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">One Big Beautiful Bill<\/a> are among the things having a positive impact on the economy. Earlier in the interview, he said geopolitical issues and lingering inflation are among the negatives impacting the economy.<\/p>\n<p>On Sept. 9, Dimon sounded a warning on the <a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/economy\/2025\/jpmorgan-ceo-dimon-warns-of-slowing-economy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">economy<\/a> after revised labor market data showed that fewer jobs had been created than was previously thought.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think the economy is weakening,\u201d Dimon told CNBC\u2019s \u201cHalftime Report.\u201d \u201cWhether it\u2019s on the way to recession or just weakening, I don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center\">Advertisement: Scroll to Continue<\/p>\n<p>PYMNTS reported at the time that Dimon is known for blunt, cautious prognoses about the economy, consumers and corporate outlooks.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.conference-board.org\/north-america\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">The Conference Board<\/a> said Sept. 30 that the <a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/economy\/2025\/job-market-strains-push-holiday-spending-toward-ecommerce\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Consumer Confidence Index<\/a> fell for the second consecutive month in September, declining 3.6 points to 94.2.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Present Situation Index dropped sharply by 7.0 points to 125.4,\u201d marking its steepest monthly decline in a year.
