{"id":111045,"date":"2025-10-09T11:44:07","date_gmt":"2025-10-09T11:44:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/111045\/"},"modified":"2025-10-09T11:44:07","modified_gmt":"2025-10-09T11:44:07","slug":"ai-is-here-to-stay-and-change-things","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/111045\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;AI Is Here to Stay and Change Things&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tWhile the majority of Hollywood is fearful of the impact artificial intelligence could have on the industry \u2014 most recently in the form of <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/ai\/\" id=\"auto-tag_ai\" data-tag=\"ai\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">AI<\/a> actress Tilly Norwood \u2014 \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/mad-max\/\" id=\"auto-tag_mad-max\" data-tag=\"mad-max\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mad Max<\/a>\u201d director <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/george-miller\/\" id=\"auto-tag_george-miller\" data-tag=\"george-miller\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">George Miller<\/a> likens it to how the Renaissance movement affected painting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tSpeaking to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/film\/2025\/oct\/09\/ai-film-making-omni-festival-mad-max-director-george-miller-interview\" target=\"_blank\">The Guardian<\/a> ahead of leading a jury at the Omni AI Film Festival in Australia, Miller said the debate around AI \u201cechoes earlier moments in art history,\u201d particularly during the Renaissance era, when the introduction of oil painting \u201cgave artists the freedom to revise and enhance their work over time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cThat shift sparked controversy \u2013 some argued that true artists should be able to commit to the canvas without corrections, others embraced the new flexibility,\u201d Miller told The Guardian. \u201cA similar debate unfolded in the mid-19th century with the arrival of photography. Art has to evolve. And while photography became its own form, painting continued. Both changed, but both endured. Art changed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tHe\u2019s also behind AI because it\u2019s \u201cway more egalitarian.\u201d \u201cIt will make screen storytelling available to anyone who has a calling to it,\u201d he says. \u201cI know kids not yet in their teens using AI. They don\u2019t have to raise money. They\u2019re making films \u2013 or at least putting footage together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tArtificial intelligence, Miller said, represents \u201cthe most dynamically evolving tool in making moving image.\u201d \u201cAs a filmmaker, I\u2019ve always been driven by the tools. AI is here to stay and change things,\u201d he argued, noting that, \u201cthe balance between human creativity and machine capability, that\u2019s what the debate and the anxiety is about.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBut Miller said ultimately, AI isn\u2019t a threat because it can\u2019t replace the \u201chuman essence.\u201d Reflecting on a previous conversation he had with filmmakers about the 2015 British documentary\u00a0\u201cListen to Me Marlon\u201d which recreated Marlon Brando in 3D with a software, Miller said he doesn\u2019t believe AI can replace or revive actors in a truthful manner because of the specificity of a human performance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tHe quoted a young director who had told him then about \u201cListen to Me Marlon\u201d that in the future, you may \u201chave a character who looks like Marlon Brando, but you\u2019ll have nothing close to Marlon Brando. You won\u2019t have the engagement, that performances arise out of the collaborative effort between other actors and directors and writers and so on.
