Pictures Animation and Locksmith Animation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tIn making the announcement Thursday, Warners also set a May 21, 2027 release date for the project.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tFairies is being directed by Megan Nicole Dong, an animation writer and story artist who created the Netflix series Centaurworld. It is co-directed by Olivier Staphylas, who worked on movies such as Puss in Boots and Wish Dragon. Fairies has an original screenplay by Deborah Frances-White.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tTony Award\u2013winning duo Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss (Six: The Musical) are writing original songs for the feature, with multiple Grammy-nominated Isabella \u201cMachine\u201d Summers, of Florence + The Machine, composing the score and contributing to the songs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe musical comedy follows a \u201cdelightfully subversive gang of fairies as they shake up their magical world,\u201d per Warners\u2019 announcement Thursday. Erivo will voice Jayne Staplegun, a trailblazing fairy whose defiant streak sparks a rebellion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe film\u2019s creative team also includes producer Carolyn Soper, editor Sim Evan-Jones, cinematographer James C.J. Williams, character designer Uwe Heidsch\u00f6tter, and heads of story Rikke Asbjoern and Chris Garbutt.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tProduction is currently underway in London, with DNEG Animation serving as digital partner. Bad Fairies\u00a0will be the first feature released under the first-look deal between Warner Bros.
