Picture: Mark Brake \/ NewsWire       <\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">Social security payments will rise across the board next month, with Australia\u2019s pensioners set to benefit the most.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">Welfare payments are indexed twice a year \u2013 once in March and once in September.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">The point is to make sure they keep pace &#8211; or at least try to &#8211; with changes in cost of living and wages.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">From September 20, people on the Age Pension, Disability Support Pension and Carer Payment will get up to $29.70 more in their fortnightly payments.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">While it might not go too far at the supermarket, it does mean those pensions have risen by almost $5000 since Labor won government in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>     <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP\/\/\/ywAAAAAAQABAAACAUwAOw==\" alt=\"Centrelink\" loading=\"lazy\" height=\"540\" width=\"960\" class=\"yf-1gfnohs loader\"\/> Pensioners are getting a bump to their fortnightly payments.
