Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel<\/strong> complained on Wednesday that the controversial remarks he made regarding the murder of Charlie Kirk<\/strong> had been \u201cmaliciously mischaracterized\u201d by \u201cright-wing media networks,\u201d and that he did not see any \u201cproblem\u201d with them until his show was taken off the air.<\/p>\n

During a live interview<\/a> with Kimmel for Bloomberg Screentime, Bloomberg\u2019s Lucas Shaw<\/strong> asked,\u00a0\u201cHow long after the initial episode where you made the comments about the assassination of Charlie Kirk, the Monday episode, did you realize there was a problem?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t think there was a big problem. You know, I just saw it as distortion on the part of some of the right-wing media networks and I was- I aimed to correct it,\u201d said Kimmel. \u201cSometimes you think this is not a problem and then it turns into a big problem, and then sometimes it goes the other way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shaw questioned,\u00a0\u201cAnd so at what point did you realize this was a problem?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think when they pulled the show off the air,\u201d replied Kimmel as the audience burst into laughter.<\/p>\n

The comment in question was made on Sept. 15, days after Kirk was assassinated<\/a> at Utah Valley University.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe hit some new lows over the weekend, with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it,\u201d Kimmel said at the time.<\/p>\n

After Shaw asked,\u00a0\u201cYou felt like your initial comments had been mischaracterized?\u201d Kimmel insisted,\u00a0\u201cI didn\u2019t feel like it, it was. It was intentionally and I think maliciously mischaracterized.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the same interview, Kimmel also said<\/a> he would \u201clove\u201d to have President Donald Trump<\/strong> as a guest on his show, despite the president\u2019s repeated rants against him.<\/p>\n

Kimmel\u2019s show\u00a0Jimmy Kimmel Live! returned to the air<\/a>\u00a0last month after it was temporarily suspended by ABC in response to his controversial remarks about the assassination of Kirk that same month.<\/p>\n
