The S&P\/TSX composite index was down 154.67 points at 30,122.13 as energy stocks weakened. <\/p>\n
In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average was down 171.12 points at 46,187.30. The S&P 500 index was down 38.38 points at 6,696.73, while the Nasdaq composite was down 169.91 points at 22,855.02<\/p>\n
The Canadian dollar traded for 71.44 cents US compared with 71.43 cents US on Thursday.<\/p>\n
The November crude oil contract was down US$1.14 cents US at US$60.37 per barrel.<\/p>\n
The December gold contract was up US$329.90 at US$4,002.50 an ounce.<\/p>\n
