But as with any processor, you can eke even better sustained performance out of it if you use enhanced cooling to keep the chip from throttling as it gets warm.

And the upcoming REDMAGIC 11 Pro aims to prove that with the kind of cooling you’d normally find in a PC. The phone is expected to have a liquid cooling system built-in, along with a 24,000 RPM fan.

REDMAGIC is a sub-brand of Chinese phone device Nubia that focuses on phones and tablets designed for gaming. Six years ago the company introduced the first smartphone with a fan for active cooling and fans have been a staple of REDMAGIC devices ever since.

The new liquid cooling system should push things even further though, by circulating liquid through the phone to help dissipate heat.

Technically REDMAGIC isn’t the first company to make a liquid-cooled phone. OnePlus showed one off in 2023. But that was just a concept phone that never made it to market. The REDMAGIC 11 Pro, on the other hand, is expected to go on sale in China on October 17th, with a global launch set to follow some time later.

In a series of posts on Chinese social media, REDMAGIC has revealed that the phone will also feature IPX8 water resistance, 5 rear cameras, and an under-display front-facing camera. There also appear to be two distinct design styles – one with a large circle and a few smaller lines on the back that seem to show off the liquid cooling system, and another that lacks those features. So it’s possible that the REDMAGIC 11 Pro will be liquid-cooled, while a lower-cost REDMAGIC 11 will not. But it’s also possible that all models have liquid cooling (some of the promo pictures suggest that this could be the case), but only some will make it visible.

That’s about all we know for certain at this point, but it’s likely that the phone will also have a big battery, air triggers, and other features meant for gamers. More details should be revealed on or before the October 17th launch event.

via NotebookCheck

Liliputing’s primary sources of revenue are advertising and affiliate links (if you click the “Shop” button at the top of the page and buy something on Amazon, for example, we’ll get a small commission).

But there are several ways you can support the site directly even if you’re using an ad blocker* and hate online shopping.

Contribute to our Patreon campaign

or…

Contribute via PayPal * If you are using an ad blocker like uBlock Origin and seeing a pop-up message at the bottom of the screen, we have a guide that may help you disable it.

Join 9,539 other subscribers

Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor is expected to be one of the fastest chips available…

[257
70388,18,70389,19,17,70390,70391,45858,279,70392,70393,12275,82,70394
0":"post-114111","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-mobile","8":"tag-active-cooling","9":"tag-eire","10":"tag-gaming-phone","11":"tag-ie","12":"tag-ireland","13":"tag-liquid-cooled","14":"tag-liquid-cooled-phone","15":"tag-liquid-cooling","16":"tag-mobile","17":"tag-redmagic","18":"tag-redmagic-11-pro","19":"tag-smartphone","20":"tag-technology","21":"tag-water-cooling
["GET
